Reuse Nymphaeum
Reuse Italy Competition 2023

Individual Work
How to bring new life to a ruin? This adaptive reuse project transforms a historical landmark in Italy by introducing a new cultural function centered around a performance stage. A new theater volume is introduced and connected to the preserved areas through a series of walkways, inviting visitors to wander through a sequence of spaces that span different times and functions.
The surrounding spaces are reimagined to highlight the contrast and harmony between past and present. The chapel and lounge use both preserved and contemporary elements to evoke unique atmospheres, while the courtyard features a reflective pool that recalls the site’s water theater period, reactivating a forgotten layer of history.
The design invites visitors on a spatial journey—moving from new to old, town to nature, and future to past—allowing the building to tell its story through a carefully choreographed experience.
